I started beading in 2000. I loved playing with the color, shape and weight of the beads as I made my first pieces with seed beads and Czech glass. But then I discovered the stones...and I was a goner. I love the varying patterns and colors of stones (especially jasper!) and once I started combining stones and freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals... Well, you can see where that landed me.
When I make Halcyon Designs jewelry, I pay special attention to the interplay of color and balance and strive to create beautiful pieces that make the wearer feel beautiful, too.

Why Halcyon Designs? Halcyon means a time of idyllic happiness and peace. But halycon is also a mythical bird said to be born in a nest floating on the sea at the winter solstice, charming the waves and wind into calm. Since my birthday is near the winter solstice and I'm a big fan of mythic birds, idyllic happiness and peacefulness...Halcyon Designs was born.
